![]() I would like to get a set, but it depends what's around/on special when I'm in the market. Sugoi is one brand of bib I have heard many good things about. The Sugoi has a big pad tho and no leg stickers - so I have a pro version on the way to try out. The Sugoi Evolution bib is so far my fav - the stitching is very embedded - all the other bibs the stitching is such that the pad edges just kind of stick out a bit and you can see the insulation. Yes, I'm trying the Ibex now - and by far they have the best stitching aside from Sugoi - their pad is the most comfortable - but the whole idea of wool in summer - hmmm - it's also kind of scratchy which I assume would come out after a couple washes. I'm 196cm tall, so only a little shorter than you and the Castelli kit could be a touch too fitting if your torso is much longer than mine. So, sorry no clear answers, but this stuff is something you need to sort out by trial and error unfortunately. I also have 2x Assos long bibs that aren't actually all that comfortable on my ISM saddle. The De Marchi are very close to Castelli in comfort, but I might also add, that I have Castelli kit with both the kiss3 and progetto x2 chamois and the cheaper kiss3 likes my butt better. I have an assortment of the brands mentioned, along with cheap Chinese and De Marchi. Since using cream, they're fine for that and much longer. Our club kit, made by Cannibal was unbearable on races 40km and longer. I should also add, that chamois cream truly adds a new dimension to bibs and comfort. Once I found out they weren't being made anymore, I searched all over the globe for another set, but ended up empty handed :cry. I discovered Campagnolo bibs about a year after they went out of production. I had sidelined them for purely riding on my track bike, but since changing saddles, they're every bit as comfortable as my Castelli bibs, which are now my go-to brand. Some of my bibs felt better on the breakaway. I rode a SMP Composit saddle for a few years before changing to an ISM Adamo Breakaway about 18 months ago. True, Assos may be a really nice bib, but they may not actually suit your back side or your saddle. My experience with bibs means I would give you an answer of "it depends".ĭifferent bibs can perform differently on different saddles and different riders.
